American Ebola Victim Set To Receive Treatment in Atlanta

One of the two Americans infected with ebola is set to return to the United States. As reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Emory University Hospital in Atlanta will receive the patient for treatment in the next couple of days.

The two victims, Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol, were doing humanitarian work in West Africa when they contracted the virus.

One of the patients will be treated in a specially built isolation unit set up in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. According to USA Today, Emory University is one of four facilities of this type in the country.

CDC director Dr. Thomas Frieden told reporters that he doubts Ebola could spread in the United States, stating “that is not in the cards.”
