Miami-Dade pot decriminalization law to go into effect July 8
MIAMI (WSVN) — Miami-Dade County commissioners have passed a new ordinance that alters the county’s regulations for possession of marijuana.
Instead of issuing criminal charges, officers’ will now have the discretion to give a civil citation if the carrier is using the 20 grams of pot for personal use. Those cases would involve a $100 fine or two days of community service.
Previously, those caught were arrested and charged criminally, with the possibility of one year behind bars. The changes are set to go into effect July 8
