Second suspect identified in Leschi double murder
Ali Muhammed Brown
SEATTLE — Seattle police have identified a second suspect in the shooting that left two people dead in the city’s Leschi neighborhood Sunday morning.

Detectives are looking for Ali Muhammed Brown, who is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall weighing 190 pounds.

The 30-year-old Brown is believed to be homeless and typically hangs around the South King County area, police said. They consider him armed and dangerous.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 500 block of 29th Ave. South. Witnesses called 911 to report multiple shots fired and when officers arrived a minute later, they found 23-year-old Dwone Anderson-Young and 27-year-old Ahmed Said lying dead in the street. Officers said Anderson-Young and Said were innocent victims.

The first person officers arrested in connection with the case, Matalepuna Malu, remains a person of interest, police said Wednesday. He’s still being held in jail on a federal warrant and investigation of an assault Sunday morning that police believe was not connected to the murders. Malu turned himself in to police later Sunday saying he’s innocent and wanted to clear his name.

Investigators are still looking into the motive for the shootings, including potentially a hate crime as one of the victims is gay.

Police ask if you see or know where Brown is to call 911.

Detectives are still working to identify any other possible suspects in the case.
